Clubs and Programs at HPA
In addition to offering an outstanding academic experience to our students, our staff is committed to providing interesting and unique clubs, programs, and special events that round out the education of all HPA Hawks. Learn more about our current, ongoing programs below . . . and don't be afraid to let us know if you have a great idea for a new opportunity!
PACE (Patriotic Adventures in Constitutional Education) Clubs meet for Grades 1-4. These clubs are facilitated by Mrs. Whitehouse (HPA Kindergarten) and Mrs. Mills (HPA 3rd grade). Students learn about the American flag, the founding fathers, and patriotic songs.
Ms. Talmadge (HPA 2nd grade teacher) piloted an 8 week class for 4th-8th grade students, called the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program. This program is meant to help young people develop their communication and leadership skills. It is a brand new program and HPA is the only school to have it in Lake Havasu City.
Ms. Davies (HPA 7th & 8th grade teacher) leads a chess club for students in grades 6-8. All levels of ability are invited to participate. The movement of pieces and how to call each move (eg pawn to h7) is taught. Strategies are shared by peers with-in our club. A club competition was held this year and they are hoping to play other clubs next year..
